A few weeks before the New Year begun God dropped in my spirit, “Come closer to Me… TRY to love Me like I love you.” And like with most of the things God tells me, it has to marinate in my spirit before I finally catch the revelation.
God said to me you need to draw closer to Me. There are some things that I want to do. In your life and in the lives of others. But I will only do them as you make the change you need to make. I will only do them as you love Me like I love you.
Many people have said and are still saying, this is a New Year. And like I heard my husband said, yes it is a New Year, in number. The days still look the same. He said, in fact if you take the names off the days, you probably would not know what day it is unless somebody told you. Truth is, the only thing that will be new in this new year, that will make the difference, is you. It must start with you.
And that is what God is saying. I desire to do new things. But I cannot do a new thing, with the same old you. I cannot pour new wine into the same old wineskins. You have got to change. Draw closer to Me. I will reveal those things that you need to change. And if you just try and love Me like I love you, you WILL change. (If you love Me, keep My commandments, is what I hear God saying). And once we make those changes that we need to make, once we come into obedience unto His Word, we will see the manifested glory of God in our lives. In every single area.
And hear this, because God is so so soooooooo good that He puts before us dreams and visions of things to come. It’s like He showing us an inkling of what He wants to do. A taste of what is to come. For the last couple of weeks God has shown Himself in the life of our daughter, Jasmine. As many of you might know she is a history major in the last semester of her senior year at college, interested in studying law. She applied to most of the top law schools in the country and in the last two weeks, she received four favorable responses. One day she was accepted into Duke University School of Law, then back to back, NYU Law School and the University of Michigan Law. And at the University of Michigan the dean wrote a personal note stating that she should apply for their Darrow Scholarship, which is full tuition and a stipend. (Talk about exceedingly abundant!) And the latest, just a day later, Vanderbilt University School of Law accepted her. She also received an invitation from Yale to apply. And this list, I know, will continue, because God is faithful and He said that no good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly before Him. God is speaking. And He has laid the example right before our very eyes. Glory to God!!! GOD IS GOOD!
This is it. God says the table is spread before you. The field is open. Doors are swinging open. Opportunities are knocking. This is current. This is NOW. God says come and take of it. It is yours. It is the table that He has promised to set in the presence of your enemies. It is the table where the feast of the Lord is going on. But it is only for those who will come. Those who will hear His Word, answer His call, and be obedient to what He is saying.
I spoke to a friend and sister in Christ today and she testified of the same things. But, and hear this, things did not happen for her, until she drew closer to God and became obedient to what He was telling her. She had to make a change. And she did and the table was spread before her.
Yes, friends, the table is spread. And yes, this is a New Year. And yes, this year is going to be different. But until and unless you change, you will find yourself back in 2009, experiencing the same old things you experienced, and probably wishing that you were back in 2008!
God wants to do and HE IS doing and going to do mighty mighty things this year, in the lives of His people. He wants to show Himself as God as never before. But, and I hope you hear this, it is only for those who desire to draw closer to Him and truly love Him through their obedience. I hear the Lord again, those who are obedient shall eat the good of the land. The table is spread.
God is real. He really really is.
A servant of the Lord,

The Table Is Spread
Evelyn Fannell has the true heart of a servant. She spends a great deal of her time assisting friends, family, and others with a variety of plans and projects, always seeking simply to be of help; always going the extra mile. A writer since her youth, in 2008 Evelyn created the blog, But God Is Real, inspired by real life situations and circumstances that speak to the “realness” of God and His intervention in daily life. After the death of her son, Joseph, Evelyn started another blog, In the Shadow of Grief, created to chronicle the emotions and stages of grief so that she could help others through their journey of pain and sorrow. Along with the blog, Evelyn also started a grief support group on Facebook, under the same name, where members can share with one another in a supportive, non-judgmental environment
In her spare time, Evelyn enjoys jigsaw puzzles, photography, and planning and creating items for special events. She also serves as First Lady and administrator of her church, On Good Ground Christian Fellowship, now in Charlotte, North Carolina. In addition to Joseph, she and her husband, Jeff, have two daughters, Brandi and Jasmine, and a grandson, Christian.
