You Made My Love Come Down

I was reminded of a song a couple of days ago.. wasn't quite sure why it popped in my head, given it's what most Christians would call, "worldly." But it was a part of my world at one point. Now, don't get me wrong, I've been delivered from some stuff.. people, things, smoking, drinking, and even music, but God will still use (and I am yet open) to whatever He will to speak to me. God used a donkey remember... NOTHING is off limits.

Anyway, the song is called, "You Make My Love Come Down" and it was by Evelyn Champagne King, one of what we would call, the "one-hit wonders." (Side note: I know some of you are closing this note right now as you remember the song, but it's all good... prayerfully your mind would be open to hear ALL the things of the Lord one day.)

Anyway, I am speaking of the chorus... You Make My Love Come Down, Oooh, you make my love come down... And as the song popped in my head, I'm like, ‘ok, Lord why is this song in my head? Where did it come from?’ And He revealed this to me in that... For the last week or so I had been meditating on Valentine's Day and the meaning of love, and God's love and in doing that God brought to my remembrance something that happened years ago in preparation for Valentine's Day.

It was Valentine's Day and I don’t remember the year, but my husband was away (as he had been almost every year, on job-related business, for the last 10 years). And I was really feeling it this particular year and as God has taught us, when we are feeling low, we need to take whatever we have and concentrate on someone else and their need. So in doing this, I planned an extra special day for my children. My oldest, Brandi and my grandson, Christian, I purchased some flowers and candy and left them in their house without them knowing, (since I had a key). And the other two, Jasmine and Joseph, I decided to decorate the house, bake a cake and have a trinket or two for them when they came home from school.

I began to bake the cake, a red velvet one, mixing the batter, preparing the pans and all. And as I went to pour the batter into the pan, I got this vision of the blood of Jesus being poured out. It was red, it was overflowing, and it was rich. And as I kept seeing this, I felt the love of God surround me, almost as if Jesus Himself was wrapping me in His arms. And I was completely overwhelmed as I felt the presence of God, the love of God come down on me.

And this is what God reminded me of... the price that Jesus paid for me. The love that He had for me. For us. That He got up on that cross and He died. And not only did He die, HE SHED BLOOD and died. As He hung on the cross, His blood poured out like a river out of His body, rich blood, red blood... and then that same rich and red blood saved and washed my soul.

As I poured out that red velvet cake mix, that’s what I saw. Jesus blood.

So what does this have to do with the song... God said, "You made His love come down." He said, Jesus was His love. And Jesus came down. He looked upon this world and He saw us. Wrapped up, caught up in our sins and God loved us so much, that He sent His LOVE (His Son) to die.

God is so good and He loves us so much. (If we could only just grasp an inkling of how much, we would live our lives differently).

And He loves us so much TODAY, that He would use red velvet cake mix and a song, to tell us.

What kind of love is this? It's more than Valentine's Day. As my husband said, His love is every day. And His love is here to stay. And it's real.

Be blessed.

A servant of the Lord,
Sis. E
